This year it is a true heavy-weight clash as Size 8 is introduced, and boy do some of these fish fill this! If you are coming to Newark today then you can enter the contest at the gate - get the choice correct and you could win a big bag of Tetra Koi food! The winner will be announced at the dinner-dance tonight and we'll bring you the results as soon as we can!

Grand Champion Contenders

Submitted by President on Mon, 30/06/2008 - 11:41.

As the chairman of the JSC I would take this opportunity to apologise to any owner whose koi are in the above video's if any comment on the commentry causes offence or upset. I was not aware that this was going to happen and the JSC had no knowledge of it either. I assume this is another innovation put forward by the show committee to promote interest in the excellent competition for everybody to find the Grand Champion or to give it another name 'did the judges get it right'. However as JSC members can be clearly heard speaking I can only assume that they did not know their comments would be transmitted along with the video's. Apart from security and bio security regulations within the centre ring of the show members may now understand why filming during judging is also not allowed. Judges have to give their honest opinion whilst judging and this may cause offence to the uninitiated in judging standards.

Please feel free to contact me if you have a problem regarding this incident.

Happy koi keeping

Gary
